Something New

March 3, 2010

There are some big changes on the horizon. I can’t wait to share the news. Stay tuned!

Jersey Shore

February 26, 2010

I love how the wedding maps that I have done have come from all over the United States, a big benefit of working with Etsy for sure.

I did a map for a couple that are getting married in New Jersey on the coast.

I really loved how everything turned out. I’m learning more about the United States with each map!

Anticipation

February 24, 2010

I can’t believe that Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland will be in theaters in one week. I remember first hearing about the news and being just blown away that two of my favorite things 1. Tim Burton and 2. Alice in Wonderland were going to come together. And then I heard the release date, March 2010. It seemed like ages till it would finally come around.

And now that there are movie trailers constantly on tv and the release is just around the corner I have to admit that I’m a little bit sad. I’ve been looking forward to it for so long that I almost (and I mean that, almost) don’t want it to get here because looking forward to it has been such a great anticipation.  Don’t they say that sometimes the best part of a vacation is looking forward to it?

Wedding Season!

February 22, 2010

I don’t know that wedding season has an actual date but it sure seems like wedding season around here! The custom orders for wedding maps are raining down but you can still submit your request!

Lots of new project to debut on the website soon!

Olympic Spirit

February 19, 2010

I’ve been really interested in the Winter Olympics. In years past I haven’t paid that much attention but for some reason it has really gotten my attention this year. The fact that it is being held in Vancouver and the time difference is only two hours helps I’m sure.

So many Americans have had success already you can’t help but feel proud of the good ol’ USA!

Love Being A Florida Gator

February 14, 2010

I’m excited to introduce another dimension to Wonderland Papers. In addition to doing wedding and courtship maps to document your romantic relationship you can also have the college years personalized in the form of a campus keepsake map. The idea of the campus keepsake map is to document all those great memories from your collegiate days.

I’m really excited about this new direction and I’m thrilled to show off the first map in the edition. I was so excited to make this map and I think it turned out better then I had hoped.

Design Is…

February 10, 2010

Most professions have certain quirks and qualities that are special to that particular career. Certain high points or low points that just come with the territory. Being a designer comes with a unique point of view. I found this great set of desktop wallpapers on Cheth Studios website that I thought covered a lot of those quirky areas.

Design is a lot of things to different people. To me design is spontaneous magic to the client and organized chaos to the designer.

What is design to you?

I’m In Deep

February 1, 2010

Growing up I was a good reader. We had a contest in elementary school called Book It! which was a program that rewarded you for reading books with the incentive of Pizza Hut pizza. I probably scarfed down a ton of little personal pan pizzas because I was good at hauling though those book lists.

To this day I love getting into a book and flying through the pages. A good book is good for the soul. It had been awhile since I found a book or series of books that has really caught my interest. But lately I have been totally immersed into the Emily Giffin books. Specifically these two:

Emily Giffin’s Website

They fall into the “chick lit” world of books but it is such an easy read that its hard not to love it.

I finished both of them in about 3-4 days and I’ve already hit the library up for her other two books, Baby Proof and Love the One Your With.  Her new book, Heart of the Matter comes out this spring. This designer will design for a copy of the new book….

Trail Map Save the Date

February 1, 2010

I’ve been anxious to share about this project. I was contacted through Etsy by my client who was looking to have a save the date made in the style of a trail map recording the couples’ relationship and ending at their engagement and announcing their marriage. Check it out:

It was a great project that turned out better then I think the customer had expected. I was also really pleased with the way it all turned out. It was great working with such a lovely couple and I wish them the best!

(The names and dates have been changed for the client)
